Character And Citizenship (CCE)
The CCE programme is implemented through the following platforms:
Roots & Wings Curriculum
“Two great things you can give your children: one is roots, the other is wings.” Hodding Carter
Roots and Wings lessons are facilitated weekly to nurture students to have a sense of rootedness to the nation and to be rooted to sound values. At the same time, the school hopes for students to develop wings to fly according to their aspirations and the wings to be a global citizen. The curriculum is conducted with a variety of pedagogies to encapsulate lessons on Social Emotional Learning (SEL), cyber wellness, sexuality education, and career guidance.
Interaction lessons are conducted fortnightly to facilitate National Education programmes, school values lessons and class bonding activities. Form teachers also use these lessons to enhance the class spirit.
Assembly periods are planned to provide a variety of experiences for students to enhance their acquisition of lifeskills and values. These include the commemoration of National Education events, level assemblies, target setting sessions, aesthetics performances and Values-in-Action sessions.
Values-in-Action programme (VIA)
Service Learning has been adopted as the approach for VIA projects. Service Learning sessions are facilitated by form teachers where students discuss community needs, plan and implement an action plan to meet those needs. Each level is given a different community to reach out to, thus meeting the varied needs in the community.
Work attachment opportunities during June and December vacations are provided for students in Secondary 3. Opportunities in different industries help to enhance students’ understanding of the world at work and broaden their world view.
Career talks are organised for Secondary 4 students during their Level camp to expand their knowledge and understanding of post-secondary options. Speakers from tertiary institutions and different industries are invited to provide students with information to make informed decisions.
All lessons and school experiences are designed to achieve the school’s CCE level outcomes. These level outcomes are specific to each level to meet their developmental needs.
The CCE level outcomes for each level of students are as follows:
